WillowsWay®

The WillowsWay® is an educational approach that draws on the best of Reggio Emilia, Vygotsky, Montessori, Froebel, and other leading pedagogical thought.

We believe that all children are capable of great things, and our aim is to provide a learning environment that supports every child in reaching their potential. For the developing brain to become optimally receptive to teaching it must be ignited by a combination of Love, Optimal Nutrition, Exercise and the practice of gratitude. Our approach is based on the latest research in child development and learning, and we work hard to ensure that our curriculum is responsive to the needs of our children.

We place a strong emphasis on play-based learning, as we believe that this is the best way for children to learn and develop. We also believe in the power of collaboration, and our classrooms are designed to promote cooperation and communication.

The brain continues to mature and develop after birth and this process depends upon a child’s experiences. In the same way that wholesome nutrition and contact with other people and objects are fundamental nutrients for the maturing brain, different experiences can cause the brain to acquire different capabilities.

It is this “plasticity”, the brain’s ability to develop and alter in response to the stresses of the environment, that assists our children to learn how to use computers as efficaciously as our forebears learned how to stalk animals in the wild.

The trillions of synapses and the pathways they shape make up the “wiring” of the brain; they allow all of the various areas to connect and function together in a synchronized way. The number and organization of connections in the brain influence everything from the ability to distinguish letters of the alphabet to managing complex social relationships.

The WillowsWay® is where teachers, parents and children create bespoke enabling environments that are used to facilitate the correct wiring of the brain to take place.

Igniting your Child's Brain

There is compelling evidence that nutrition, exercise, gratitude and being in loving relationships together mould the plasticity of the brain so that it is almost inevitable that children acquire the characteristics of effective learning and a growth mindset.
We have faith that children are interested in things worth knowing about.
We help parents to be knowledgeable and creative members of a supportive educational team.
Our teachers confidently respond to children’s ideas and interests.
