At Willows Preschool Wimbledon, we know that in this period of time children improve their communication skills, form their first relationships with people and establish habits for life. Enjoying books and reading stories from a very early age is crucial in the development of a child. When we talk about reading in the early years is not just ‘reading’, it is so much more.
Early reading ignites creativity, sparks curiosity, and stimulates the imagination in young children and quite often, this leads to role-play as children grow which helps to develop other skills such as empathy, problem-solving, morality and socialising with others.

Catching children’s attention and maintaining it high is crucial when introducing a book to them, therefore one of our teachers’ techniques is using puppets to make the books more interesting, funnier, and stimulating. Using puppets also helps children remember and play the sequences much more easily.
Reading at Willows Preschool Wimbledon is interactive, children and teachers contribute equally to building that magic that only books can provide and our Willows Teachers are great at making the reading interesting and phenomenal!!!
