Hammersmith visits Emergency Services

Hammersmith visits Emergency Services

Police, Ambulance and Fire Brigade – are the emergency services that we all know and rely on. But for many children, these vital organisations can be a mystery. That’s why at Willows Pre-School we either invite emergency service personnel to visit the school or bring the children to them! The children will learn all about the work they do. The Police talk about how they help to keep us safe; the NHS discuss what to do in an emergency and the Fire Brigade explain how to prevent fires. By introducing our children to the emergency services, we hope that they will grow up feeling confident and able to seek help when they need it.

The children at Willows Hammersmith nursery had a special treat last week when they visited the local fire station! The firefighters were very friendly and showed the children around the station, explaining how the equipment works. The highlight of the visit was when the children got to dress up as firemen and sit in the fire engine! It was a great day out and the children learnt a lot about safety. We would like to thank the firefighters for their time, and we hope to visit again soon!

Parents play a vital role in their children’s lives, and emergency service workers are no exception. If you are a parent who works in emergency services, we would love to invite you to give a talk to the children. Emergency service workers provide an essential service to the community, and it is important for children to understand what they do. By hearing from you about your work, children will gain a better understanding of the importance of emergency services. In addition, they will also be able to learn about the skills and training that you need to do your job. We hope that you will consider this invitation, and we thank you for your service to the community.
