October to September Newsletter

We would like to extend a warm welcome to the families who are beginning the new term with us. We look forward to getting to know you and your child, working together to embark upon a unique educational journey with us at Willows.

For those who were on holiday over the summer, we hope that you had an enjoyable and relaxing break. We trust that you have now been introduced to your child’s new key person and communication will begin to be exchanged between the key person and family through the communication book and at drop-off and pick-up times. For children already with us, we have been preparing the children for this transition and they have all expressed excitement towards their new groups.

All About Me

The topic for the next two months is ‘All About Me’. This topic helps the child and key person to build up a strong attachment by finding out and exploring what the child likes, dislikes, what he/she knows already, how he/she learns and about their family.

This topic will extend across all areas of learning in the EYFS. The younger children will be having a teddy bear’s picnic for one of their trips and the older children will learn about physical characteristics which make people similar or different.

All key persons will appreciate your cooperation with objects or photos to be brought in from home to help with this topic. This will be communicated to you verbally or through the Famly app.

You can find some fun activities we have suggested for you to do at home with you’re your children.

Pick-up / Drop off

Can we please emphasise the times for drop off and pick up; Drop off begins from 7.30 am until 9 am. Please note breakfast finishes at 8.45 am in order to set up the classroom for the day so if you wish your child to eat breakfast at pre-school, please ensure they arrive on time. Pick up is after 4:30 pm and before 6 pm. We are a small setting and focused time with the children occurs between these core hours and it is disruptive to other children and teachers if children arrive late or leave

early. If there is a need to drop off late or pick up early, please let us know in advance and we will endeavour to make arrangements for this. Please also ensure that anyone picking up your child is aware of this and in line with this, a form must be completed if you wish for anyone different to pick up your child from pre-school.

I would like to inform parents that any late pickups, after 6pm will be fined.

Clothing

We would like to remind parents to label all clothes with their child’s name to ensure that nothing gets misplaced. Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for nursery as we endeavour to ensure children are wearing aprons when engaging in messy play activities, however, it is inevitable that children will get dirty when they are having so much fun so party clothes are better for at home! Thanks!
